My grandfather built a house in Maghera, just outside the town of Ardara, in 1968 and I spent much of my childhood there. Having travelled extensively myself I returned at least once every year to Donegal.
Due to this I know personally many of the people who live in the community. I have always been a fly fisherman and have always been active in the local Salmon angling club promoting care of the local river and the preservation of fish stocks. To this end I have met many locals who are also involved in this and am delighted to now sponsor the club.
In the development of the practice I employed only local tradesmen and craftsmen and my architect is from just outside Ardara.
Travel packages for our patients again incorporate local hotels and restaurants and we have a very close relationship with the Ardara Health Centre and local medical practitioners to provide the community with an excellent overall healthcare service.
Cosmetic Dentistry has always been my main focus and interest.
When In lived and worked in the UK I attended many postgraduate courses on dental aesthetics however my time spent living and working in the USA lead to a hugely greater understanding and appreciation of the depth and multidisciplinary aspect of cosmetic dentistry. I spent 2 years learning through working in possibly the best multidisciplinary practice in the world in Atlanta, Georgia and visiting other ground breaking dental offices around America to observe their unique approaches to the provision of cosmetic services to their patients.
This was an exciting time for me and allowed me to develop my approach to aesthetics and hence be able to provide a unique form of dental cosmetic treatment developed from my experience.
I continue to be in contact with world leading authorities on cosmetic dentistry and continue to learn and forward my understanding and abilities.
Outside dentistry I have many interests. I have flown and am licensed for gliders and light aircraft, have raced in the Irish single seater Formula Europa series and try to continue with my interest in art by painting and sketching. I also build and play acoustic guitars. In my younger years I played rugby and tennis and my interest continues in these sports.
Paragliding is another area of interest for me although this is a future project!
Clinical Photography is via a Canon EOS 700D digital SLR camera married to a ring flash and dedicated Tamron 60mm Macro Di II lens. Adobe Photoshop CS6 used for image resizing, sharpening and conversion to .jpeg files from RAW format surgery images.
